Story Time Newsletter: New additional session (11am!) & upcoming story time readers

May 3, 2023

THE PARENTS HAVE SPOKEN

When we designed River Bookshop, we really wanted to create a place that was friendly, educational, and safe for children. This can be seen in our custom-designed kids section and our kid-curated titles. We knew that children really benefit from reading.

Story Time on Sundays at 1 pm has been a regular fixture since we opened River Bookshop. We wanted to create an event that was perfect for “littles” (children generally under 10 years of age). In our second year, the popularity of the event increased dramatically when we introduced the concept of “celebrity” readers. This year we also created the Story Time Club, which rewards attendance when you join the club.

However, we have learned from talking to parents that our event timing is not ideal for everyone. It seems 1 pm is a perfect time for naps. For this reason, effective Sunday, May 7th, we are going to host two Story Times each Sunday: a new session at 11 am and our regular time at 1 pm. We plan to stick with this into the summer and throughout Open Air. We hope that both times turn out to be popular.

Our two children’s book experts, Lauren and Darrie-Ann, are looking to make sure whichever Story Time you attend will be fun for your littles.

UPCOMING STORY TIMES

On May 7th, Chef AnnaMaria, a local chef and nutritional coach, will be reading books on food and gardening.

On May 14th, Miss Lauren will be reading stories all about mothers to celebrate Mother’s Day 2023.

On May 21st, in honour of Victoria Day and the upcoming coronation, Miss Darrie-Ann will be reading books about Britain.

See you Sunday!
