New Lead Bookseller

New Lead Bookseller

Aug 24, 2022

This week’s newsletter is a little introduction. My name’s Meghan Desjardins, and I’m excited to be taking over as the new Lead Bookseller at River Bookshop. I admire the work that Lori has done over the past two years, and I’ll be picking up where she left off.

My career background is entirely in books, as I’ve been working with them for over eight years, from freelancing to Black Moss Press, Biblioasis Press, and Biblioasis Bookshop. River Bookshop marks a new chapter for me, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to manage such a beautiful store and a passionate team. Together, we’ll continue curating stock that aligns with our community’s needs, our own recommendations, the hottest titles in the market, and plenty of unique gift items.

As a Windsor native, I’m also looking forward to getting to know the community in Amherstburg. Despite having only worked in the store for one week so far, I’ve already felt such a warm welcome from the community. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

We’re bursting with ideas here at River Bookshop, and I hope you’ll keep an eye out on our newsletters and social media for what’s next. Our fall schedule is jam packed with author events, story time (every Sunday!), holiday events, the Uncommon Festival, and some new surprises. We can’t wait to show you what we have in store.

Next time you’re in the area, I hope you’ll pop in and say hello! Between the changes in the shop and the recent opening of White Woods Home and Evelyn’s Candy House next door, there’s a lot happening on Richmond Street.

I also wanted to mention that, sadly, this week is Bookseller Emily’s last week with us. We’re all going to miss her terribly here at the shop, but we wish her much luck with school, and we’re grateful for the time we’ve had getting to know her. We also appreciate everything she’s done to make the shop what it is. Best of luck from all of us, Emily!

Yours sincerely,

Meghan and The River Bookshop Team
